A national training on compliance with environmental legislation, focusing specifically on methodology development and the application of the integrated risk assessment method (IRAM)/easyTools, took place in Tirana, Albania, on April 6 and 7, 2017.
The goal was to build capacities for the planning of inspections using the online tools and methodologies developped and tested by the European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL).
The event brought together over 20 inspectors from throughout Albania to benefit from the expertise of the three IMPEL experts who led the training and shared their EU experience.
By recommending working methods and sharing best practices, the trainers helped to improve the effectiveness of inspection bodies in promoting compliance with environmental requirements. As well as improving the functionning of environmental inspection and enforcement organisations, the training highlighted the importance of raising public awareness on environmental inspection.
