My first walks have included a stunning path along the coast, a country walk, and a magnificent hike in the Cairngorms. The club members were very welcoming to a newcomer, while still leaving space for the stillness and quiet of a good walk. As a person new to the area and without a car, the club has been a great way to experience much more of the countryside than I ever would have seen on my own.
We offer a regular programme of fortnightly Sunday outings each year from March to early November and monthly winter walks in December, January and February. Summer walks make use of the daylight hours and are generally between 12 and 20 miles, our winter walks usually cover 8 to 10 miles. Options for shorter walks are clearly identified. Advance bookings are necessary and individuals are encouraged to register and book directly on the upcoming walk . An will confirm your place on the coach.

Nice easy walk around Potarch, mostly flat so a good one to get me started. Really enjoyed it. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. Hopefully I can improve my map reading skills in the coming months. Suitable for all as a real mix of fast walkers and the more relaxed so plenty of time to enjoy, stop and take photos. Lovely being out in the countryside again.

Welcoming to newcomers with rusty legs like me, the Aberdeen Hillwalking Club has just the right amount of sociability and ambition. There is plenty of time and space for quiet, solitary walking, or for walking with others. The walks themselves are challenging without being heroic.
They seem suitable for a range of walking abilities. The routes are varied and interesting. Highly recommended.
